Sambar

Sambar is not only popular in India but throughout the world.This amazing recipe is native to south india and is loved by all sorts of foodies, this is served in entire India as a street food as well as in high and restaurants.

Cook Time: 15 min

INGREDIENTS:   Measuring cup used  1 cup =250 ml.   


  •  1 cup tuvar dal
  • 1/2 cup grated vegetable cabbage  and bottle-gourd (lauki)
  • 1 onion slices
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon tumeric (haldi) powder
  • Salt as required
  • 3 cups for pressure cooking dal
  • 1 teaspoon dhaniya powder
  • 8-10   curry leaves
  •  One and half teaspoon of sambhar masala
  •  1 cup Tamarind (imli) water                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             How to prepare recipe:
  • First soak the tuar dal for 30 minutes  in water.
                                                             
  • After that add half teaspoon haldi powder and salt add 2 teaspoon oil in dal .
  •  Boil dal in 3 cups of water in the pressure cooker for 2 whistle on mediam to high flame the dal should become soft and mashy.
  • Take a pan and add 2 table spoon oil now add cumin seeds and mustard seeds now  addCurry leaves when the mustard seeds start crackling add onions slices, cabbage and bottle guard (lauki)mix it well add haldi powder and salt.Now add  tamarind (imli) water.


  • when it comes to boil then add one and half teaspoon red chilli powder, dhaniya powder add one and half teaspoon of sambar masala.
  •  Mix it well and cover it for 5-10 minutes and turn the flame off.
  •  Now open the pressure cooker and mix the masala in it and mix it well .you can add some water in dal according to require and cover the cooker for 4-5 minutes.
