Rava Idli

Rava idli can be made at home when we want some quick and easy idli. The idlis are made with sooji/rava this is my version of making instant rava idlis.

Preparation Time :  10min
Cooking Time       :  7min

Ingredients :        
    • 1 cup rava
    • 1 cup of Butter-milk or curds (dahi)
    • 1 cup water
    • Salt to taste
    • 1/4 teaspoon eno/baking soda
    • 3/4 tsp oil for greasing.
Method : Combine all ingredients together and out it aside(covered) for 30 minutes.
How to proceed :
  • Pour 1 cup of water in the base of a microwave safe idli steamer and microwave on high for 1 minutes. Grease the idli moulds using little oil. Now add ENO /Soda to the battar and mix well.

  • Pour 2 tablespoon of batter into each greased cavity of the idlis moulds and microwave covered on high for 7 minutes.

  • Repeat with the remaining battar to make more idlis.                                                                            
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambhar.                
Tips :        
  • Baking soda and eno contains sodium so the salt has to added accordingly.

  • After adding soda you have to make the idlis immediately as the eno and soda will loose it's effect very soon.
