This recipe is one of the easiest recipe to make already cooked aur steamed rice mixed with lemon mixture. you can make lemon rice freshly cooked rice or even with left over rice.
This is a delicious way to turn plain rice into an exotic dish lemon adds the tanginess, while the tempering impacts the aroma to this simple rice delicacy.
LEMON RICE |

SERVING : 2-3 MEMBERS
INGREDIENTS : ( 1 CUP = 250 ML )
- 2 Cups Cooked rice
- 2-3 Tbsp oil
- 2 potatoes ( chopped )
- 1-2 Onions (slices)
- 1-2 Chopped tomatoes
- 2-3 Green chillies ( chopped )
- 8-10 Curry leaves
- 4-5 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 Tbsp mustered seeds ( Rai )
- 1/2 Tbsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 Teaspoon turmeric Powder ( haldi )
- 1 Teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 Teaspoon garam masala
- 5-6 Black pepper
- 4-5 Cloves
- Salt as required
METHOD :
- In a frying pan , heat 2-3 tbsp oil.
- Add the mustered and cumin seeds and let them crackle. Once they begin to crackle add cloves and black pepper now add curry leaves.
- Now add chopped onions, potatoes and green chillies. Saute for a few seconds till the onions turn in golden brown in colour.
- Add salt and haldi powder mix it well and saute it for 1-2 mins then add red chili powder and garam masala.
- After that add chopped tomatoes and cover it for 2-3 mins
- Now your mixture is ready add 2 Cups of WHITE RICE ( cooked) and mix it well. In the last add lemon juice in the rice mix very well and switch off the flame.
- Check the taste and add more lemon juice or salt if you want. Keep the lemon rice covered for the flavours to blend for 4-5 minutes.
Then serve the lemon rice with COCONUT CHUTNEY or just have lemon rice plain.
