Chana Masala is a Spicy, Tasty and Healthy dish. Boiled Chickpeas are Sauted With Onions - Tomatoes and Flavored with strong and Warming Flavours to Create this North Indian delicacy. It's a delicious and Super easy Brunch.
Ingredients :
- 2 Cups of Chickpeas (Soak in overnight)
- 2 Green Chillies
- 1 inch Ginger
- 1 Bay leaf ( Tej patta )
- 1 Whole Black Cardamon
- 2 Large Onions
- 1/2 Cup of Tamarind Puree
- 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Haldi Powder
- 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 Tsp Asafetida
- 1 and 1/2 Tbsp Oil
- 1 and 1/2 Tsp Chole Masala
- 7-8 Garlic Cloves
- Salt as taste
- Water as required
Method :
- Soak the Chickpeas in enough water overnight for 7-8 hours with grated ginger, bay leaf, black Cardamom .
- Next day, Transfer Chickpeas in pressure Cooker add Salt and haldi powder . Pressure Cook it for 3-4 Whistles and keep it aside.
- Grind 1 Chopped Onions , 1 inch Chopped Ginger, 2 green Chillies and 7-8 garlic together and make a fine paste.
- Grind / Mesh Some boiled Chickpeas ( not all but only 1/2 of it ) and make a fine paste.
- Heat Oil in a Pan. Add Cumin and Mustard Seeds .When they turns golden brown in color add Asafetida.
- Add Chopped Onions and Ginger- Garlic Paste mix well and cook it for 3-4 Mins add dried Spices Red Chilli Powder, Coriander powder, Salt and haldi powder . Mix everything well.
- Now add Chickpea Paste and Mix well. Add One Cup of Tamarind puree and cook it for 3-4 Mins, add 2 Tsp of Chana Masala.
- Your Masala gravy is ready transfer this gravy in boiled Chickpeas. Mix well and add 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala cover and cook it for 2-3 minutes .
